英国生物技术和生物科学研究理事会（BBSRC）宣布，英国政府未来五年将持续性投入3.19亿英磅，以支持英国生物科学研究，确保英国的国际竞争力，应对人口增长、化石能源替代和老龄化等全球挑战。
这笔资金来自英国商务、能源和工业战略部，用于BBSRC支持英国未来五年的生物科技发展。该基金将通过17个战略计划颁发给通过严格和独立的国际同行评审过程筛选出来的科研院所。
该项投资计划重点支持增进科学知识的了解，促进重点行业如食品、农业、可再生经济和制药业的增长和创造就业机会，推动英国生物经济的进一步发展。
